Which animal is it? It needs more (desert dwellers) or less UVB light
Distance between the animal and the UVB lamp
This results in the recommendation for suitable UVB products
Adherence to the correct lighting duration per day
Basic rules:
Don't overdo it - better start with lower UVB levels or shorter lighting periods
ALWAYS give the animal shady retreat
Always attach the lamp vertically above the reptile. Never at an angle - otherwise the eyes will be at risk
Replace old UVB lamps regularly, as UVB performance declines with age
