Information about UVB metal halide lamps / HQI for terrariums

The Reptiles Expert metal halide lamps (MH lamps, HQI) have been extensively tested by our experts in long series of tests with their own reptiles. These products are characterized by ideal UVB radiation and very good daylight emission (light color 6000k) with excellent heat radiation. This combination is ideal for reptiles and easy for owners. The UVB radiation is higher than with energy-saving lamps or fluorescent tubes and is particularly suitable for desert animals at a distance of more than 30 cm in the terrarium. The latest technology guarantees an even UVB spectrum and a long service life. The color stability is guaranteed by the current ceramic glass technology. No other UVB lamp offers such high quality and such a long service life

Please note the following:

• Operate only with a suitable electronic ballast!
• Allow the lamp to burn in (at least 2 hours). This ensures that later damage is avoided
• Normal glass does not let UVB light through. Therefore, never mount the lamp over a pane of glass
• The installation must be carried out by a specialist. Never install near flammable objects and never cover the components (including the electronic ballast) and always ventilate sufficiently
• Always pull out the mains plug and let the lamp cool down each time you change it
• Never open the product
• Use temperature-stable ceramic sockets
• If a defect occurs, immediately disconnect the power supply

It is normal for UVB radiation to decrease over time. Replacing the bulbs after around 3500 operating hours is recommended.

 

Disposal

All lamps can be disposed of at waste collection points, just like energy-saving lamps for household use. The products must not be thrown away with normal household waste. Reptiles Expert is therefore registered as a manufacturer and pays contributions to the disposal company for disposal in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Ordinance. The products are therefore marked with the garbage can symbol (WEEE marking).
